Frequently Asked Questions

What is your style of photography?
A blend of formal and informal. I will aim to include as many of the classic shots as possible, such as signing the register and cutting the cake, but I will also focus on capturing the spontaneous emotions of the day.

Are you an experienced photographer?
Yes, I have been a full time professional photographer for more than 25 years. I am also highly skilled at retouching photographs and applying digital special effects.

Will you be our photographer or do you delegate the job to somebody else?
When you book BelbinPhoto you are booking me, Robert Belbin. I do all the photography and all the post production work on your wedding.

Do you photograph more than one wedding in a day?
No, because I like to concentrate fully on one wedding at a time to maximize the photographic coverage and produce as wide a selection of images as possible.

Do you visit the ceremony and reception venues prior to the wedding?
Yes, usually a week or two before the wedding day in order to check out the best places for photographs. The bride and groom are welcome to accompany me on these visits as this often results in good ideas for particular shots.

Will you be dressed smartly or informally on our wedding day?
I wear a suit and tie in keeping with the occasion.

How many photos do you take?
There is no set number. The aim is always to produce a wide selection of good quality images. A medium size wedding would usually result in around 250 photos after editing.

Do you shoot in RAW or jpeg mode?
Always RAW for best quality and this is why it takes several days’ work to prepare all the images. Once the images have been optimized for quality they are converted into jpeg format.

How long does it take before the dvd with all the high resolution images are ready?
About a week, but during busy periods it may take longer.

Can you apply special effects?
I can do this at no extra charge to a small selection of images if you like this style of presentation. Special effects can include colour cutouts, spot colour, sepia or simple conversion to black and white.

If we order an album, how many photos will it take?
This depends on the album you select. Traditional albums accommodate a fixed number of photos depending on the number of pages in the album. A standard size album would take 40 photos. If you opt for a contemporary album, more than one image can be placed on a page and the images can be presented at different sizes. An A4 contemporary album will look good with around 60 images and an A3 contemporary album works well with around 90 images.

If we order a contemporary album can we see proofs of the page designs before they are printed?
Yes, when the contemporary album pages have been custom designed I will upload them to my website so you can view them. At this stage changes can still be made before the pages go to print. This also applies to printed books.

Do you accept credit cards?
A cheque is preferred, but credit cards are accepted via PayPal.
